I am getting a pet

I am getting two Orandas. They are goldfishes cousins. They are white with orange coloured heads.

Last night I bought a fish tank. It is orange and I am allowed at most three fish in it. This is what came with it: a filter, orange gravel, some plastic plants, fish food water conditioner and biological supplement. I have no idea what biological supplement is.

I bought the fish tank at Pets at Home. I had to save up for it because it cost a lot of money. I have to leave the water bubbling for 48 hours before I can put the fish in so I have to go back in two days and buy the fish.

In the comments area you can leave names you think would be good for the fish and I will put them all in a hat and pull two out. Whoever wins, I will go onto their blog and let them know their name has been chosen.

Summer Scrummage

Last week I went to Summer Scrummage. It is a camp where you go for a week and learn how to play rugby.

On Wednesday two of the Ulster Rugby players came to see us, Neil Best and Paul Maxwell.

On Tuesday we got a bag of new kit. It included green rugby socks, a summer scrummage t-shirt, canterbury shorts, a DVD about asthma and a rugby ball.

I had two coaches called Stuart and Andrew. Andrew went to America and a new coach came. There were eight boys there that I knew, four were from my class at school and four were from my mini rugby team.

This is my second year at Summer Scrummage and I really enjoyed it.

The Somme Centre

Today I went to the Somme Centre with my Grandad. When we arrived the first thing we saw was a World War One machine gun with sandbags all round it. We were looking around the place when the tour guide came over to us and asked if we would like to have a tour.

We went on the tour and we walked to France. When we got to France we went into the trenches. We had to walk all around the trenches in the battlefield. We saw the place were they would have eaten their food. They had corned beef and stew to eat. We saw the hospital too. There were lots of hand grenades going off and snipers shooting and machine guns firing so it was very noisy. There were also bombs going off.

The trenches were scary. Plus my Grandad pretended there was a rat running up my leg because the guide said 'be careful of the rats!'. At the gift shop you could buy a Victoria Cross.

My friend Ryan

Yesterday my friend Ryan, who lives in the USA, came over to play with me. He is here for a holiday at the minute.

When he was here, we went golfing at Knockbracken golf range and we watched the Winter Olympics edition of Top Gear. The funniest bit of the DVD was when one of the presenters shot down a tree instead of hitting a target. Ryan and I laughed our heads off at that!

Today Ryan is getting on his plane to go back to America. I think he is coming back before Christmas. I am looking forward to seeing him again then.

Phil Kids

Yesterday I got a letter from Phil Kids. It says I am on the waiting list for a place in the Phil Kids Philharmonic choir. This means I might get to be in the choir.

Everybody else in my class who had been at the auditions got letters too. Some people are on the waiting list too. One girl didn't get through.

I will hear soon if I have got a place.

Cricket

Each Saturday I go to Cooke Rugby Football Club to play cricket. Every week we play a really long game. Yesterday we were playing a game and the other team had a P7 in the team (everyone else is in P4 or P5). The other team won 95 to 94.

I have been going for two weeks and I have learnt two defensive shots, one is the defense shot and the other is the swing shot. We don't learn how to bowl yet. Last week we had an odd number on our team so the coach threw the ball into the air and if you dropped it twice you couldn't bat in the final over.

La la la la!!

Today in school Christopher Bell came to visit. He took all the P4 classes one at a time to see what kind of singers they were. He was trying out people to see who could be in his choir. We had to do singing games and if we were good he wrote a tick on the board. If you got two ticks you got a note for your parent to ask if you could try out in the second round of the auditions.
Only a couple of people out of my class were picked. When it was my time to sing in one of the singing games he gave me the thumbs up and I was one of the people who were picked. I feel really excited and happy but a little bit nervous because I might not get into his choir.

The next round is on the 1st and 2nd of June. I really really want to get into his choir!

Cooke Rugby Tournament

On Saturday 28th April the rugby club I play at, Cooke, had a tournament for all mini rugby teams. There were teams there from Lisburn, Harlequins (who knocked us out in the semi-final), Carrickfergus, Coleraine, Bangor and lots more.

When we were knocked out in the semi-finals we got a trophy. It has a gold circle with the Cooke RFC logo in it and says P5 semi-finalists 2007. At the top there are two rugby players, one who has the ball and is handing off and another who is tackling him.

There were some players there from the Ulster team. Justin Harrison, Neil Best, Tommy Bowe and Scott Young all signed my rugby shirt.
